VA Pension Benefit with Aid and Attendance
Non-Service Connected Pension
This Benefit was established by Congress in 1952 under section 38 USC as an mandatory pension. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers this benefit to veterans with non-service related disabilities and for their surviving spouses. This pension is intended to reimburse veterans for assistance with activities of daily living at home or moving into an assisted living facility. There are 2 qualifications that must be met in accordance with the VA requirements. An applicant has to have a medical need stated by a physician. Also, application includes financial information to verify annual income, must have less than $129,000 in assets not including their home. Military requirement is 90 days of active duty and veterans service must include 1 day during a period of war.
VA Compensation Disability Benefit
Service-connected injuries or disease
This is a benefit paid to veterans with disabilities that are the result of a disease,or aggravated injury during your military service. Surviving Spouses may also be eligible for a compensation benefit. No income verification needed.
